In Toy Story 3, which comes out in theaters Friday June 18, the character of Slinky Dog is not voiced by Jim Varney as it was previously. Blake Clark has stepped in to fill that role because sadly, Jim Varney died in 2000 of lung cancer. Who knew that great voice was produced by smoking?

Comedian Blake Clark is a great choice for the role though, his voice is perfect! He also has a great sense of timing and knows exactly how to deliver a line for maximum effect. I sincerely doubt that Toy Story 3 suffers at all without Jim Varney voicing Slinky Dog.

Blake Clark is also starring in another upcoming movie called “Grown Ups” which I (for one) have been looking forward to seeing. That movie stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and a bunch more comedic big names and looks to be a rockin’ good time.
